Jimmy Carter

Assistant Professor of Practical Theology – Laramie Extension Site

Dr. Carter was saved at an early age and grew up in Wyoming. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He was part of the first graduating class of The WEST Institute, graduating the one-year program of Shepherds Seminary and Laramie Valley Chapel in 2011. He spent eight years serving the ministry in Laramie while earning a MDiv before moving to the main campus in Cary, NC in 2019.

After serving in multiple pastoral roles at The Shepherd’s Church and director positions at the seminary’s main campus, Jimmy returned to the Laramie Extension site in 2025 where he now serves as Assistant Professor of Practical Theology. He earned his DMin from Shepherds Seminary as well and is now on the pastoral staff of Laramie Valley Chapel. He has a passion for teaching people of all ages God’s Word and seeing them live out the truth of Scripture in the context of local church community.

Jimmy is married to Andrea (Andi) and has two sons: Owen and Bryce.
