MILITARY & VETERAN EDUCATION BENEFITS
Shepherds is committed to providing meaningful theological education for military personnel. Our programs offer extensive biblical training and quality interaction with professors, equipping active duty service members and veterans for life during and after the military. Distinct among these is our Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree, which offers a specialized chaplaincy concentration. Our programs are also fully available online, so servicemen and women can obtain a degree through Shepherds from wherever they are stationed.
Getting Started with Military Benefits
Shepherds Theological Seminary is authorized to participate in military educational assistance programs through each branch’s designated process. This includes Tuition Assistance (TA). Active duty military may receive financial assistance for their seminary education. Contact the Financial Aid Office (FAO) to begin the certification process.
In addition, Shepherds offers a 25% discount on tuition for all current active duty service members.
Getting Started with VA Benefits
Shepherds Theological Seminary is authorized to participate in veteran educational assistance programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), being approved by the North Carolina, Texas and Wyoming State Approving Agencies (SAAs) for Veterans Education. This includes VA Educational Benefits (GI Bill®) for eligible veterans enrolled in approved programs. Eligible veterans may receive financial assistance for their seminary education.
To begin the certification process, complete the following steps:
- Determine your eligibility for GI Bill® and other education benefits through the VA.
- Apply for the GI Bill® or other education benefits using the VA online application.
- Submit your official Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to the FAO. It is recommended that the COE be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the semester. Note: students approved under the Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E) program should contact their VR&E counselor and notify the FAO in lieu of providing a COE.
