David Landry — Class of 2028
Married to Samantha Landry;
Two children: Quinn & Ezra

Where and how did you grow up?

I was raised in Raeford, North Carolina, in a large Christian household. Alongside my five brothers, I was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school under my mother’s guidance. Growing up in a big family with parents who taught us about the Lord was an experience I truly appreciate.

What life circumstances or situations did God use to create in you a desire for pastoral ministry?

While I was dating my wife, I felt the enormous responsibility of being the spiritual leader of my future family, which led me to take my walk with God more seriously. I greatly enjoyed serving in my local church, writing devotions, and teaching Sunday school. I had never dreamed of serving in the ministry, but the Lord was quickly changing my desires. After a season of hesitation, my wife and I came to recognize His call on our lives and committed ourselves to preparing for a life of service.

How do you anticipate seminary helping you specifically to prepare for ministry?

I believe that seminary will aid in the development of spiritual growth, practical skills, and biblical knowledge. All of these will greatly benefit my ability to serve in any ministry role the Lord provides. A particular area that STS will be instrumental in my preparation is the biblical languages, which have been a major goal and interest of mine.

What kind of ministry, people group, or geographical area are you passionate about or planning to be involved in after graduating and why?

I have a great desire to deeply study and teach the Living Word of God for the edification of His people and the glory of His name. To fulfill this goal, I plan to seek a pastorate position upon graduation and remain open to any geographic location the Lord chooses for us to serve in. I also intend to continue advancing my academic education in the years following graduation.
