Jimmy Carter

Director of Ministry Integration, Practical Theology

Dr. Carter was saved at an early age and grew up in Wyoming. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He was part of the first graduating class of The WEST Institute, graduating the one-year program of Shepherds Seminary and Laramie Valley Chapel in 2011. He spent eight years serving the ministry in Laramie while earning a MDiv before moving to the main campus in Cary, NC in 2019.

Jimmy serves the seminary as an Assistant Professor of Practical Theology and Director of Ministry Integration. He has a DMin from Shepherds Seminary and teaches classes in Bible Exposition and Practical Theology. These classes include Route 66, a nine-month class that guides participants through the 66 books of the Bible in a verse-by-verse manner. He also oversees a three-year internship based in The Shepherd’s Church for students in the MDiv cohort.

Dr. Carter serves as the Family Pastor at The Shepherd’s Church in Cary, NC. He is an ordained Pastor, licensed at Laramie Valley Chapel (Laramie, WY), and has a passion for teaching people of all ages God’s Word and seeing them live out the truth of Scripture in the context of community.

Jimmy is married to Andrea (Andi) and has two sons: Owen and Bryce.
