MIRIAM LOFQUIST
Dean of Women
Miriam Lofquist serves as Shepherds’ Dean of Women, overseeing all efforts for serving the growing need for discipleship and spiritual transformation of the STS female student population.
Miriam has worked under women faithfully serving in ministry contexts since she was 10 years old, having taught a VBS class while being mentored by two single missionary women in Utah. She continued to work with women during her role as the pastor’s wife in a church plant in Utah and in a multi-staff church in Indiana for a total of 16 years. In partnership with her husband Les Lofquist who served as Executive Director of the IFCA International for 20 years, she was the Women’s Coordinator for this vital fellowship that included over 1,500 churches and pastors’ wives, 75 military chaplains’ wives, and wives of ministry leaders—including the wives of college presidents and ministry organization CEOs. Miriam counseled pastors’ wives with difficult church situations and personal needs. Each year she planned a four-day Women’s Conference attended by over 250 women. She has taught seminars at the IFCA Convention, the Rural Home Missions Association Town and Country Pastors Conference, and at the Shepherds 360 Conference. She also serves in the Mobilization and Advancement Office at The Shepherd’s Church and will continue to do so in a shared role.
Miriam earned her Diploma in Christian Education with a minor in Music from what was then known as Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music—now Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, MI. Miriam and her husband Les have been married for 44 years and have 5 children and 5 grandsons.
